Andrew: I’ll be attending THE Festival in Portland, ME in a couple days. I can’t wait to try some of the most famed international beers in the world, especially Cantillon lambics. They will be be premiering a new beer at THE Festival.
I was lucky to try one of their beers Rosé De Gambrinus a few weeks ago at Cafe D’Alsace in NYC. I won’t say how much I paid, but it was a lot. It was totally worth it because it was totally not “ew,” as Eric would say. Sometimes I think that lambics are too sweet, but Cantillon somehow gets the perfect balance of sweet and sour and fruit flavor without it being too overpowering. It really tasted like fresh raspberries in a glass. Yum. And there are boobs on the label . . . always a plus.
Will report back with highlights of the weekend when I return and will surely have some great beer and fun times with friends. We’re also planning on hitting up Allagash, Maine Beer Co. (MBC) and Nova Res (bar). I’m especially excited to try some of the Allagash Coolship beers (my friend who lives there said that they are incredible and only available at the brewery), and the two new IPAs from MBC, called Weez and Another One.
After SAVOR last weekend, I’m hoping to be blown away by yet another amazing beer festival. Cheers!
