Andrew: On Saturday I went for a walk with the family in our neighborhood and tried out a new bar called The Jeffrey. It’s a great new bar—awesome beer selection and a nice, big outdoor area in the back. My old boss used to bring his dogs there when it was a dog care place.
Beer > Dog Poop
Change is good, especially when it means less poop and more beer.
The best part, though, is they had some beers from one of my favorite (and beer nerds’ favorite) breweries: Cantillon.
I’ve had the Kriek before (on my last bday), but it was a nice surprise to walk into a bar in NYC and find this amazing beer. This is just one reason why I love living here as a beer nerd–you can walk into a beer bar and find world-class beers.
The other reason why I like living here is because of the food. I love going to 5-star restaurants for special occasions, but NYC also has such good cheap food. My neighborhood is called Yorkville, which used to be primarily German, Czech, and Hunagrian. There are still some great authentic restaurants and grocery stores in the neighborhood (here’s an older post about The Heidelberg) and because of the influence, Shake Shack has “Shacktoberfest” every October.
The Brewboyz joined forces to fill our gullets with Cheddar Brat Burgerzzz: 100% all-natural Angus beef burger topped with a flat-top griddled cheddar bratwurst, crispy ShackMeister Ale-marinated shallots and ShackSauce. It was so good. So good that it would make Emeril Lagasse say, “Oh yeah, babe!”
